Description: This license will permit the holder to perform any electrical installation when employed by either a licensed electrical contractor or an industrial plant. This license authorizes the holder to direct, supervise, perform, or control the making of any electrical installation.

Duration: 3 years, current cycle ends October 1, 2010
Fees - application, exam, etc.:  $100.00 application fee. The application fee includes the first license cycle after passing the examination. All application fees are non-refundable.

Examination Information: Applicants approved to take an examination will be sent a Letter of Authorization. This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected.

Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 90 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with the appropriate fee to schedule another exam date.

If the applicant fails the examination they may re-apply at any time and test no sooner than 30 days after each failed exam.

Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted.

Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination.

Exam Specifics:
Open-book examination, two sections. Section one contains 52 questions, section two contains 12 questions. (four hour time limit.)

Licensing and Certification Examination Process
Continuing Ed Requirements: During each three-year license period, all licensees shall complete a minimum of 24 hours of approved continuing education, of these 24 required continuing education hours you must have completed one code change directed by the board. Prerequisites: A. Submit verification of at least four years - (8,000 hours) experience with a general journeyman electrician license or provides proof of equivalent experience (8 years - 16,000 hours), 2,000 each in residential, commercial, and industrial.

B. Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion.

C. Pass a written examination.

D. Submit proof of related classroom training as outlined in OAR 918-282-0140.
