Description: An Exotic Animal Facility Permit is required of any person keeping as a pet, cats not indigenous to Oregon (except domestic cats), nonhuman primates, any bear (except black bear), purebred wolves, and any non-wolf dog not indigenous to Oregon (except domestic dogs).

Duration: 2 years from date of issuance
Fees - application, exam, etc.:  Initial:
    $300 for Class 1 felines, Class 1 primates and bears
    $100 for Class 2 felines, Class 2 primates, and Class 1 canines
    $50 for Class 3 felines, Class 3 primates, and Class 2 canines

Renewal fees:
    $100 for Class 1 felines, Class 1 primates, and bears
    $25 for Class 2 & 3 felines, Class 2 & 3 primates, and Class 1 & 2 canines

Classification descriptions found in OAR 603-011; 0710(1) for felines, 0720(1) for non-human primates, and 0727(1) for wolves & other exotic canines.

Fee Exemptions: 1. Wildlife Rehabilitation Center permited by ODFW 2. Facility operated and licensed by USDA.

Prerequisites:
  1. Before acquiring the animal(s) the applicant must apply to the Department of Agriculture for issuance of permit by submitting an application and appropriate fee.
  2. The department will perform an inspection of the facility.
