Three Brownfields Grants for New York

EPA has awarded $1.9M in Recovery Act funds for brownfields related activities in New York State. Niagara County will receive $900K to to help carry out cleanup activities, redevelopment projects, and create jobs for local residents, while New York City-based community groups STRIVE/East Harlem and St. Nicholas Neighborhood Preservation Corporation will each get $500K to help train community members for jobs assessing and cleaning up brownfields sites.

New York City Teams Up with EPA to Promote Water Efficiency

While New York City is one of the most populous and busiest cities on the planet, it’s also one of the greenest, and now the Big Apple is promoting the importance of conserving water by partnering with the EPA. Through the Agency’s WaterSense program, which promotes water efficiency strategies, and identifies and labels products that use less water, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving water in the nation’s largest city.
