Agreement between Nevada and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

On February 17, 2006 HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt and Governor Kenny Guinn signed a Planning Resolution detailing HHS' and Nevada's shared and independent responsibilities for pandemic planning.


Federal Help for Nevada Planning

Nevada received $1,045,254 in phase one funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use for pandemic planning activities. Nevada received additional funds of $2,079,242 from the revised phase two of Health and Human Services’ local and state allocations. A supplemental $708,492 was awarded to help strengthen the state's capacity to respond to a pandemic influenza outbreak. These grants are based on a formula adjusted for population

State Activities

The state of Nevada, HHS, and other federal agencies held a pandemic planning summit on February 17, 2006 with public health and emergency management and response leaders within the state.
