Child & Adult Care Food Program

Mealtime Memo ... It's What's Cooking, and more!

Mealtime Memo and What's Cooking? are fact sheets of food service information for child care centers and day care home providers participating in CACFP.  Each issue is filled with information to give you a better understanding of CACFP's meal service requirements.  Look for hints on nutrition, food preparation, and menus to help you serve high quality meals and snacks to children.

The National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI), at the University of Mississippi, publishes "Mealtime Memo" four times a year.  NFSMI is a national resource for the Child Nutrition Programs.  The Institute provides information services and referral in all areas of nutrition and food service for children.  It makes USDA publications available to you at the lowest costs possible.

If you have questions about preparing or serving meals and snacks in CACFP, you can contact the Institute's Healthy Food Hotline, at 1-800-321-3054.  A nutritionist will give you practical answers to the questions you have about your food service.
