(Atlanta, Ga. –May 1, 2008) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will recognize the City of Spartanburg on Friday, May 2, 2008 in Spartanburg, S.C. as recipients of $400,000 in EPA brownfields grants to help revitalize former industrial and commercial sites, turning them from problem properties to productive community use. Additionally, EPA awarded four other communities in South Carolina with $1.2 million in brownfields grants. Those include Aiken County, Anderson County, Richland County, and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control in Anderson.
