Services: Child Support Guidelines, Forms and Resources

Current Guidelines (Effective October 1, 2008)

The North Dakota Department of Human Services has established child support guidelines to be used by courts in determining the amount a parent should be expected to contribute toward the support of a child. These guidelines apply in any action in North Dakota in which a child support obligation is being established or changed.

Note: The current guidelines (effective October 1, 2008) replace the previous guidelines (effective through September 30, 2008). Both current and previous guidelines are available below. A document that shows the changes made to the previous guidelines, resulting in the current guidelines, is also available. On this document, deleted text is shown by strike-through and new text is underscored. The last document that is available below is a fact sheet summarizing the changes made to the previous guidelines.

Forms

Child Support Enforcement has developed forms that can be used to assist in calculating a child support obligation under the current guidelines. In addition, the North Dakota Supreme Court's technology division has developed a web-based guidelines calculator to assist in determining an obligation.
