The 2nd International Evidence Based Practice in Wound Care Conference: The Effective Implementation of Pressure Ulcer Clinical Practice Guidelines will be held in Cleveland, Ohio on June 5-6, 2009.

The focus of the conference is the Effective Implementation of Pressure Ulcer Clinical Practice Guidelines, a topic that is extremely important in the care of many at-risk patients. 2009 VA HSR&D National Meeting
The 2009 VA HSR&D National Meeting will be held from February 11-13, 2009 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, Baltimore, MD.

A call for abstracts will be released within the next few weeks and abstracts will be due on October 1, 2008.

The theme of the 2009 meeting, "Defining Optimal Care: Balancing Quality, Cost, and Patient Preferences," was selected because of HSR&D's commitment to examining best practices in implementing state-of-the-art health care for veterans.

Local Accountability for Research Meeting
January 13-14, 2009

The VHA Office of Research & Development (ORD) is pleased to announce the 2009 Local Accountability for Research Meeting. This coming year ORD will have one meeting for about 600 participants, instead of a series of smaller meetings. ORD will pay for travel for up to five representatives from each VA facility with a Federalwide Assurance (FWA). These representatives will include the following: Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff, ACOS/R&D, AO/R&D, and Research Compliance Officer.

VA's Health Services Research and Development Service (HSR&D) will hold their Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) National Meeting on December 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, AZ. The theme for this year's invitation-only meeting is "Strengthening the Connection between Research and Operations."
