Enhanced Security Features in CORES
The FCC implemented enhanced security features in CORES to include:
- A requirement for strong passwords (for example, new passwords must include a minimum of six characters with a combination of at least three different types of characters - numeric, upper case letters, lower case letters, special characters)
- A limit on unsuccessful login attempts (for example, lockout occurs after five unsuccessful login attempts)
- Partial masking of Social Security Numbers (for example, users can view only the last four digits)
These enhancements will further protect your privacy with added security features. Current passwords are not affected by this change. However, if you request a new password or need to reset a current password you must comply with the new security enhancements.
