MAYOR DIDIO GIVES UP $5,000.00 ANNUAL SALARY; COUNCIL AGREES TO 10% REDUCTION

Mayor Dianne Camelo Didio recently announced that she was giving up her annual Mayoral stipend of $5,000.00 as a cost savings measure to assist the borough during these difficult economic times. The Council also agreed to cut their individual stipends by 10%.

Rutgers Conceptual Plan for Van Buskirk Island prepared as part of Professor Hoefer’s landscape architecture class at Rutgers for the "Adaptive Re-Use & Flood Water Control at the Historic Oradell Waterworks"; the Grant Application and the Letter to Mayor Didio regarding same can be viewed under the heading"News". A copy of the plan is on the bulletin board at Borough Hall or available from the Clerk's office. The PowerPoint presentation can also be viewed under "News".

 

Assistance with PSE&G Winter Heating Bills  is available to residents who recently lost their jobs or are now working fewer hours due to the economic downturn.  The federal Low Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is being funded at dramatically increased levels over last year and eligibility is based on last month's income. Many more households will be able to participate in the program for the first time. You will find detailed information on the home page under the heading "News".

 

Biodiesel Pilot Project - At 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 30th, Mayor Dianne Didio started up the 1st Oradell Vehicle Powered by Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil!  This historic event took place at the Oradell DPW Garage.  Oradell became only the 2nd Community in the Tri-State Area to have a vehicle powered by its' own recycled waste vegetable oil donated by local  restaurants. Please look for the "This Truck Runs On Recycled Vegetable Oil" truck(s) in the Borough. Channel 77 captured the event and will air the segment periodically. To donate Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil please contact Wolfgang Albrecht,  Borough Administrator at walbrecht@oradell.org or DPW Supt. Rob Stauffer at rstauffer@oradell.org.

Telemarketing  -Calls have been made in our area using the Police Chief's Association name to obtain personal information, please do not respond and contact police department at (201) 261-0200 immediately. 

Bridge Closure - The Elm Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, for safety reasons, immediately and for an indefinite time.  Please note:  On Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the public meeting of the Mayor and Council, the County's Engineering Department presented options for the rehabilitation/repair of the bridge.  At the present time, it is estimated that the bridge will be closed by the County for 10-12 months. Periodic updates will be provided here.

Artificial Turf Update - The Mayor and Council have extensively researched the existence of lead within the synthetic turf fibers at the Doug Parcells Athletic Complex (DPAC) - read more under News
