Curbside recycling is coming!!!
As
part of my administrations ongoing efforts to ensure we provide
efficient services without incurring additional tax burdens I am very
pleased to announce that as of October 1, 2009
Lincoln Park
residents can enjoy curbside recycling pickup.
Citizens
have asked me time and again how to have an impact on lowering
government costs. This plan allows every resident in town to have an
impact on what we spend in solid waste disposal. By diverting the
recyclable items out of the waste flow and into recycling YOU have a
direct impact on YOUR tax dollars. We aim to reduce what we spend in
solid waste disposal costs by a significant amount by reducing the
weight of what we dispose.
How
does it work? The Borough will pickup curbside two times a month mixed
recyclables (cans, plastic, glass in one bin, newspapers, junk mail,
cardboard in another). We will do this one the first garbage day of your
route two times per month, please keep an eye out for the exact schedule
which will come out in September.
In
addition the Borough will provide each household two recycling plastic
bins to provide everyone a jump-start. Not only does this give everyone
a direct stake in reducing municipal costs it is the right thing to do
environmentally.
The full plan will be
coming in an email through the newsgroup, will be posted on the Boroughs
website (www.lincolnpark,org)
and posted on Channel 77.
