Pre-Election Reports are filed by political committees that are supporting/opposing
any candidate(s), or question of public policy to be submitted to the voters.
Due to different elections conducted in Illinois, reporting periods will vary. However,
every Pre-Election Report will have the same closing date for its reporting period –
thirty days prior to an election.
Pre-Election Reports must be filed on or before the
fifteenth day after the close of the reporting period. Every political committee is
required to file either a Pre-Election Report or a Statement of Non-Participation for
each election, with the exception of a General Primary Election (occurring in
even-numbered years).
No Pre-Election Report is filed in connection with the General
Primary Election.
During the Pre-Election Report filing period, you can easily view
the number of active committees and the number of
reports filed split by
electronic and paper filings during the current filing period.
