To promote the development and implementation of quality education for students with disabilities.
Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) |
The Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) is mandated under IDEA to ensure that Arizona state department and public education agencies take steps to recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified special education teachers and that the professional development of special education teachers and other personnel is aimed at providing them with the knowledge and skills to deliver scientifically based instruction that is likely to improve outcomes for children with disabilities.

Dispute Resolution |
The Dispute Resolution Unit offers resources for parents and school personnel who require assistance with special education related disputes.

Funding Unit |
The Funding Unit manages all grants, contracts, procurements, data collection, and budgeting for Exceptional Student Services.

Program Support & Monitoring |
The Program Support Unit provides technical assistance and monitoring to all public education agencies and approved private special education schools in the state.

Special Projects |
The Special Projects Unit is comprised of Alternate Assessment, Assistive Technology, Child Find, Parent Information Network, Secondary Transition, Secure Care, and Traumatic Brain Injury.

State and Federal Initiatives |
The State and Federal Initiatives Unit encompasses Accessible Instructional Materials, Approved Private Schools, ED-P Programs, PEA Determinations, Residential and Institutional Vouchers, and Surrogate Parents.

Flagstaff Office |
The Flagstaff Office supports special education programs in Northern Arizona's school districts and charter schools in Apache, Coconino, Gila, Mohave, Navajo, and Yavapai counties.

Tucson Office |
The Tucson Office supports special education programs in Southern Arizona's school districts and charter schools in Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, Southern Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties.
