Scholarly Publications From its inception, the Freer Gallery of Art has emphasized research on the permanent collections from both art historical and scientific perspectives, and it has actively disseminated the results of this research through conference and symposium proceedings, scholarly catalogues, and monograph series.

The Freer and Sackler Galleries cosponsor two of the most distinguished journals in the field of Asian art. Together with the University of Michigan's Asian art history faculty, the museum has published the journal Ars Orientalis since 1954. Artibus Asiae is published jointly by the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and the Museum Rietberg Zurich.
