The DPGDS is a transportable electrical power generation and distribution system that provides electrical power for a variety of military missions ranging from support of a small military outpost to a fully operational, forward deployed base camps and airbases. The 920-kw DPGDS is a joint U.S. Army and Air Force program designed as a replacement for existing 750-kilowatt sets that incorporate outdated technology that is inefficient and requires excessive maintenance costs. In contrast, the DPGDS power units are 25% lighter, 15% more fuel efficient, and possess increased reliability and maintainability and can be tailored to a wide variety of missions.
Each company can provide power for a 2000 man base camp with the following components:
Power Unit (PU) (MEP-810A or B Model can provides 920 kW of 2400/4160 VAC 60 Hz, or 766 kW of 2200/3800 VAC 50 Hz, electrical power using 2 independent generator sets equipped with electronic control systems. |
|
Power Distribution Center (PDC) is integral with each PU and provides a 600 amp power busing, power circuit protection, power connections, and engine, generator set, and PU control and monitoring systems. Prime Switching Center (PSC) is a distribution center providing 2 manual and 4 overcurrent protected disconnect switches, all connected to a 600 amp common internal bus.
Secondary Distribution Center (SDC) is a 150 KVA transformer to convert 2400/4160 VAC or 2200/3800 VAC to 120/208 VAC with medium voltage power input connections, circuit protection, and multiple low voltage load output connectors.
Prime Distribution Panel (PDP) are 25 and 35 kW distribution center that distributes 120/208 VAC with power input and feed-thru connectors, circuit protection, and multiple output connectors and receptacles.
Remote Area Lighting System (RALS) is a system of 13 pole-mounted 150 w floodlights, all connected along 1,500 ft of integral power cable assemblies.
Cable Reel Pallet Assembly (CRPA) is reel that holds and distributes 3 spools of 4,500 ft/spool #1/0, 200 amp, 5kv power distribution cable. Service Cables (SC) are the connection from the SDCs to the PDPs. They range in size from 100 to 60 amp ratings in 25, 50 and 100 ft lengths, all for 120/208 VAC.
