Overview of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
The Recovery Act signed into law by President Obama on February 17th, 2009
includes measures to modernize our nation's infrastructure, enhance energy
independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable
health care, provide tax relief, and protect those in greatest need.
Implementing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
Formula Funding
- The money will be distributed using federal formulas such as Title I,
IDEA, and various other formulas.
- Awards notices for 50% of the Title I and IDEA funds have been received.
- Each program will be posting applications in the ADE Grants System.
Stabilization Funding
- May 1st - Arizona has scheduled to receive $832,000,000. Legislative
action will determine where this money will go.
- Remaining $185,000,000 will be disbursed at the Governor's discretion.
- ADE has made recommendations to Governor Brewer's office regarding these
funds, but ultimately those decisions will be made by the Governor's office.
- This funding will be used to fund FY09,10,11 budget shortfalls.
