Ray has more than 31 years of experience as a forester with NRCS. He is a certified forester. He is currently the State forester for NRCS in Nacogdoches, Texas, a position that he has held since 2002. He has served in varied positions throughout his career including: forester in Bryan, TX (1989-2002); and forester in Nacogdoches, TX (1984-1989).

Ray provides direct technical assistance, training, and technology transfer in forest management, agroforestry, erosion control and ecological site development to 15 Central National Technical Support Center states and conservation partners.
