The North Dakota Developmental Center is a state-operated, comprehensive support agency for people with mental retardation/developmental disabilities. Located in Grafton, N.D., the center currently serves 152 people providing specialized services and acting as a safety net for people whose needs exceed community resources.

- A North Dakota citizen is eligible for admission if he or she meets admission criteria.

- The Developmental Center works with other providers to deliver effective services in the least restrictive setting. The specialized services provided at the Developmental Center are based on individual needs and goals.

- The North Dakota Developmental Center dates back to 1903 when the legislature allocated funds for a facility to educate and care for people with mental retardation.
