Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with coursework in office support or business or office education. 
  • Two years of experience performing a variety of complex office support, clerical, or secretarial work, which included opportunities for functioning as a project coordinator, team leader, or lead worker. Additional work experience as described may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and possess excellent written, communication, and telephone skills. Teamwork and organizational skills are needed for this position.
  • External candidates must have been tested by ND Job Service within the year in Microsoft Excel & Word.

Summary of Work:

Coordinate the flow of USDA commodity foods for Indian reservations, emergency food banks, and the Supplemental Food Program.

  • Analyze current inventory levels and customer usage to determine shipments to be ordered directly from USDA.
  • Monitor inventory levels at the state contracted warehouse and at local recipient agencies. 
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets to generate projections and to complete required federal reports. 
  • Coordinate commodity shipments to local recipient agencies by communicating with state contracted warehouse staff and program contacts. 

This position also acts as the main administrative support person for the Child Nutrition and Food Distribution unit. 

  • Receive and direct telephone calls to appropriate personnel and provide general program information to customers.
  • Assist staff by completing and sending various letters, sorting and distributing mail, and completing various work projects as needed.
