Application Tips

If you apply for a DHS position, please remember these points:

  • Read the job announcement carefully for special instructions or requirements.

  • Complete all parts of the application form. The form does not have to be typed, but it must be filled out in ink and readable if it is not typed. Special note: DHS is now using special, shorter forms for several positions, and it might be necessary to also submit a self-qualification form and skill codes sheet. The job announcement will explain what is needed.

  • Many recruitments require you to submit written answers to test questions with the application. Answer all questions concisely and thoroughly, and answer all parts of the questions. Your test grade is a major factor in determining whether you get a job interview.

  • Submit your application and any additional materials required by the deadline in the job announcement.

If you need assistance with the application process, please call us at (503) 945-5698 (TTY users call 503-945-6214). Thank you for your interest in employment with the Oregon Department of Human Services!
