Sean A. Lev
Deputy General Counsel for Environment and Nuclear Programs
Sean Lev is the Deputy General Counsel for Environment and Nuclear Programs at the Department of Energy. He has spent more than sixteen years defending and challenging a wide variety of agency actions as an attorney in Washington, D.C., and has been lead counsel in scores of cases involving administrative law before federal and state appellate and trial courts.
Before joining the Department in June 2009, Mr. Lev was a partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, PLLC, where his practice focused on administrative law, telecommunications, and appellate and general litigation. From 1993 to1996, Mr. Lev was an attorney on the Appellate Staff in the Civil Division at the United States Department of Justice, where he represented a large number of federal agencies. He joined the Department of Justice through its Honors Program. Prior to his service at the Department of Justice, Mr. Lev clerked for the Honorable Patricia M. Wald of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Mr. Lev graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a Supervising Editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is also a magna cum laude graduate of Williams College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
