McGinnis Creek Fire declared contained
This is a photo of smoke from the McGinnis Creek Fire, burning 12 miles southeast of Spray ODF Incident Management Team 1 demobilized
The McGinnis Creek Fire, reported on Friday, July 24 - four miles northwest of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument Visitors Center, one mile west of Highway 19; and about 12 miles southeast of Spray - has been contained effective July 30. The fire burned 3,417 acres on private and Bureau of Land Management lands. With the demobilization of the Type 1 incident management team, the fire has been turned back over to a Type 3 team with the Central Oregon District for further suppression action.

Popular off-highway vehicle trails in the Tillamook State Forest REOPEN

Due to an decrease in Fire Danger and the Industrial Fire Precaution Level being lowered to Levels 1 and 2, the off-highway vehicle trails in the Tillamook State Forest (Browns Camp, Jordan Creek, Diamond Mill, and Trask) and the BLM Nestucca Riding Area that were closed on Tuesday, July 28th REOPEN for public use effective 1:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1st.
