The Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) recently passed by the U.S. Congress includes a requirement that all individuals applying or renewing their eligibility for certain Medicaid programs and who are U.S. citizens now have to prove citizenship by presenting specified documentation. The Oregon Department of Human Services will begin implementing this new requirement Sept. 1, 2006.
