The Women's Health Program promotes women's health across the lifespan. We assess the health and health needs of women in Oregon and promote programs that increase awareness of women's health issues among the public, researchers, educators and health care professionals.
Currently the Women's Health Program: prevents sexual violence through Rape Prevention Education; prevents Fetal Alcohol Syndrome through surveillance; reduces chronic diseases through health screening via the WISEWOMAN (Well-integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) Program; and promotes healthy choices for women before they conceive to ensure healthy pregnancies.
In 2008, the Women's Health Program served more than 6,000 Oregon women, providing education, prevention services and health screening.
