Says Legislators, Other Constitutionals Must Share Sacrifice
CHICAGO – July 7, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today vetoed House Bill 2145 saying the General Assembly’s bill fails to make any significant cuts in state operations. Instead, the Governor proposed passing a responsible “Tough Choices” budget, which calls for cutting an additional $1 billion in state costs.

06/18/09 - Governor Quinn Calls a Special Session
Urges General Assembly to finish its business and solve fiscal crisis
CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today signed a proclamation calling for a special session of the 96th Illinois General Assembly to convene on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 P.M. In his proclamation, Governor Quinn stated that one of the main purposes of this special session is to address the fiscal crisis confronting the State of Illinois.
06/04/09 - Taxpayer Action Board Issues Final Report to the Governor
The report details measures to make state government more accountable and efficient.
CHICAGO – June 4, 2009. The Taxpayer Action Board (TAB) presented its final report to Governor Pat Quinn detailing measures to make state government more accountable and efficient. Chaired by Tom Johnson, President of the Taxpayers Federation of Illinois, TAB was charged with evaluating current state programs and identifying new approaches to deal with challenging fiscal and operational issues.
