FY-2005 Discretionary Conservation Program Initial Allocations to States by

These maps show the amounts distributed to Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) State offices for operating seven conservation programs in fiscal
year 2005: Conservation Technical Assistance Program, Soil Survey Program, Snow
Survey and Water Forecasting Program, Plant Materials Program, Watershed Surveys
and Planning, Flood Protection and Prevention Operations, Watershed
Rehabilitation Program, and Resource Conservation and Development Program.
These programs were funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005.
Through these programs, the Natural Resources Conservation Service is capable of
accomplishing its mission of providing leadership in a partnership effort to
help people conserve, maintain, and improve our natural resources and
environment.

This map shows the amounts distributed to NRCS State offices for
operating the Snow Survey and Water Forecasting Program in fiscal year
2005. This program provides mountain snowpack data and streamflow
forecasts for the western United States. Common applications of snow
survey products include water supply management, flood control, climate
modeling, recreation, and conservation planning.

FFY-2005 Plant Materials Initial Allocations

This map shows the amounts distributed to NRCS State offices for
operating the Plant Materials Program in fiscal year 2005. This program
provides native plants that can help solve natural resource problems.
Beneficial uses for which plant material may be developed include
biomass production, carbon sequestration, erosion reduction, wetland
restoration, water quality improvement, streambank and riparian area
protection, coastal dune stabilization, and other special conservation
treatment needs.
