What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a national service program established in 1993, modeled after the Peace Corps. Instead of serving in foreign countries, AmeriCorps enlists citizens of different ages and backgrounds to serve in communities all over the United States in the focus areas of education, public health and safety, other human needs, environment, and homeland security. There are approximately 600 AmeriCorps programs located throughout the United States.

Learn more about AmeriCorps and national service at the AmeriCorps Web site.

What is AmeriCorps HOPE?
AmeriCorps HOPE is one of the approximate 600 AmeriCorps programs in the United States. "HOPE" is the acronym for Oregon's statewide "Healthy Options through Prevention and Education".

Our mission is to promote health, safety, and independence using a positive youth development approach. Through partnerships with non-profit groups, faith-based organizations and government agencies throughout Oregon members provide direct service to youth and families.
