to the drug control, public health, law enforcement, and intelligence communities of the United States

in order to reduce the adverse effects of drug trafficking, drug abuse, and other drug-related criminal activity.

Employees of the National Drug Intelligence Center Receive Excellence in Government Awards

In their annual Excellence in Government Awards ceremony, the Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board recognized employees of the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) for their “deep personal and professional commitment” over the past year. The Federal Executive Board was created by the President to initiate improved coordination of governmental activity within western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia through cooperative action among field establishments in the areas of Government-wide policy implementation, service to community, and improving the quality of the Federal government. The area covered by the Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board includes 24,000 federal employees.

NDIC employees honored by the Federal Executive Board are:

  • Michael F. Walther, Director - Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Government (Silver Award)
     
  • Mark D. Nolta, Document and Media Exploitation Unit Supervisor--Outstanding Supervisor/Manager in an Administrative Series (Gold Award)
     
  • Fred L. Wilson, Jr., Librarian - Outstanding Supervisor/Manager in a Professional Series (Bronze Award)
     
  • Linda M. Kapustka, Procurement Specialist - Outstanding Professional Employee (Bronze Award)
     
  • Helen R. McVicker, Training Technician - Outstanding Technical Employee (Bronze Award)
     
  • Mark G. Thomas, Mail and File Clerk--Outstanding Clerical Employee (Bronze Award)
     
  • Veil J. Schiffhauer, Client Services Supervisor - Community Service (Bronze Award)
     
  • Sean R. Keefe, Information Technology Specialist--Rookie of the Year (Bronze Award)

In addition to the individual awards, the SIPRNET Connectivity Project Team received a Bronze Award in the category of Outstanding Teamwork. The Team is comprised of the following NDIC personnel:

  • Information Technology Specialist Supervisors, Raymond J. Becker, Christopher P. Bifano, Charles G. Makosky, and David L. Nelson
     
  • Information Technology Specialists, Carol L. Byer, Sean R. Keefe, Mark L. Palmo, Donald W. Renninger, Alen L. Rotz, Amy R. Rozich, Mark S. Sanders, George J. Silowash, and Nadine L. Tatarko
     
  • Computer Assistant Erin D. Schiffhauer, and Computer Operator Patricia C. Kelly.

The NDIC employees received their awards Friday, May 29, 2009, at a luncheon ceremony at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA. George P. Buck, Executive Director, Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board, presented the awards to the 22 NDIC employees, commending them for their “outstanding commitment to public service.”
