Substance Abuse Treatment

Helping Families. Supporting Communities. Empowering Individuals.

What should I expect?

In Illinois clinical staff providing service at licensed treatment facilities are specially trained to work with individuals seeking treatment. Everyone seeking treatment will be given an initial assessment to determine their treatment needs. The assement will determine which level of care the individual will be placed in. The Illinois Service System is composed of  various levels of care according to their treatment plan.

Individualized Treatment Plan

A treatment plan developed to meet the individualized need of the client is a written plan that includes goals and objectives, time frames designed to stay on track with strategies that move the individual to recovery.

Levels of Care:

Level 0.5 is pre-treatment services to address problems that appear to be related to alcohol and other drugs.

Level I  and Level II are face to face clinical services in a non-residential setting. The level and intensity of treatment are based on individual need.  Outpatient averages less than nine hours per week. Intensive outpatient services are a minimum of nine hours per week.

Level III services are in a 24 hour structured and supervised treatment environment.

Level III.2 consists of the withdrawal of an alcohol or other drug in a safe an effective manner.

Recovery Home is alcohol and drug-free housing.

What is Recovery?

Recovery - Recovery from alcohol and drug problems is a process of change through which an individual achieves abstinence and improved health, wellness, and quality of life. Individuals from the recovery community and treatment-related service providers developed this definition through the National Summit on Recovery process sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administrations (SAMHSAs) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
