CVSD has received one-time funding through the Recovery Act under programs established by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The stated purposes of the Recovery Act are to preserve and create jobs and to promote economic recovery. The following provides summaries of the Recovery Act Funding that CVSD has received under VOCA and VAWA:
Recovery Act VOCA Funds - CVSD has received $1,108,186 through the Recovery Act under the VOCA Victim Assistance and Victim Compensation Programs. Of this amount, $751,000 is available through the Victim Assistance Program and will be awarded to agencies that provide direct services to victims of crime. The competitive application period for the Recovery Act VOCA Victim Assistance Program funds is now closed. The remaining $357,186 is administered through the Victim Compensation Program to use for compensation of individual crime victims. Recovery Act VAWA Funds - CVSD has received $1.9 million through the Recovery Act under the STOP VAWA Formula Grant Program. This money is now available to law enforcement, prosecution, courts, and non-profit/non-governmental victim services programs through two open competitive application processes. The two Competitive Requests for Applications (RFAs) can be viewed on the VAWA website.
