Pride, Patriotism, Service
A word of inspiration for all female veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces...
"Working hard overcomes a whole lot of other obstacles. You can have unbelievable intelligence, you can have connections, you can have opportunities fall out of the sky. But in the end, hard work is the true endearing characteristic of successful people." --Rear Admiral Marsha Johnson Evans, U.S. Navy (Ret), July 2007 Guideposts
Women have served valiantly in America’s wars and conflicts throughout our history. And although women were not formally under military command until the early part of the 20th century, they have served in various capacities, beginning with America’s War of Independence.

Women are a vital part of the armed forces and the community of veterans. The study of women veterans begins with the history of women in the military and the changing role of women in the military.
At each VA Medical Center, a Women Veterans Program Manager is assigned to assist women veterans. If you are a woman veteran interested in receiving care at VA, contact the nearest VA Medical Center and ask for the Women Veterans Program Manager. She can help coordinate all the services you may need, from Medical Services to Mental Health to Sexual Abuse Counseling.
