Fulbright Program Opportunities in the U.S. for Russians Grants are provided to Russian scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and the pure and applied sciences to travel to an American university primarily to conduct research; lecturing opportunities exist as well. Grants range from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 9 months. Additionally, up to six six-month residential scholarships are awarded for research in the humanities or social sciences at the Kennan Institute in Washington D.C. Russian graduate students conduct independent research as non-degree students, or matriculate in graduate-level studies to obtain a Master's degree in their fields of study. The Fulbright Faculty Development Program (FFDP) is designed for younger junior teaching faculty and scholars in all fields who do not yet have a post-graduate academic degree (“kandidatskaya”). The Russian International Education Administrators (RIEA) program supports up to 10 international education administration specialists from Russian universities for an intensive three-month training program in the U.S. Fulbright Program Opportunities in Russia for Americans U.S. scholars in all disciplines lecture and conduct research for a period of three to ten months at Russian universities or research institutes. While affiliations are available at a wide range of academic institutions, applicants are particularly encouraged to consider placement in the regions outside Moscow and Petersburg. The Nikolay V. Sivachev Chair in American History is for a distinguished scholar to lecture in American History at Moscow State University’s Department of History. U.S. graduate students attend Russian universities or conduct independent research for a period of 10 months in the humanities, social sciences, pure and applied sciences, and the creative and performing arts. Additionally, English Teaching Assistantships for eleven months are offered to graduating college seniors or recent university graduates, preferably in the fields of education, the humanities, or social sciences. No teaching experience is required but preference is given to candidates with a working knowledge of Russian.
