California Transportation Plan (CTP)

California has a safe, sustainable, world-class transportation system that provides for the mobility and accessibility of people, goods, services, and information through an integrated, multimodal network that is developed through collaboration and achieves a prosperous economy, a quality environment, and social equity.

The California Transportation Plan (CTP) is a statewide, long-range transportation plan for meeting our future mobility needs. The CTP defines goals, policies, and strategies to achieve our collective vision for California’s future transportation system. This plan, with a minimum 20-year planning horizon, is prepared in response to federal and State requirements and is updated every five years.

The current California Transportation Plan, the CTP 2025, was approved in 2006 and updated by an Addendum in October of 2007 to comply with new federal planning requirements governing development of the plan. An update to the plan for 2035 planning horizon was initiated in September 2008. Information on the development of this latest planning effort can be found at our CTP 2035 web portal.
