President Obama today named 16 recipients of the 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom. America’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom is awarded to individuals who make an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

On Wednesday, the President will conduct a town hall discussion about the impact of skyrocketing cost of health care and the need for real reform with Raleigh small business owners, employees and residents. He will be introduced by Sara Coleman, owner of the Cupcake Shoppe Bakery in Raleigh (bio below), and then deliver prepared remarks followed by taking questions from the audience.
