Spirit of NH Awards / NH Volunteer of the Month

This annual recognition program is administered by Volunteer NH in collaboration with the Office of the Governor. Spirit of New Hampshire awards honor outstanding contributions to volunteerism throughout the state of New Hampshire. They augment the many local recognition events that show appreciation for the work of community volunteers and volunteer programs.

Each fall, a statewide celebration is held in Concord to present Spirit of New Hampshire Awards in two major groups:

  • Volunteer Service Awards recognize individuals and groups who provide volunteer services that strengthen communities and improve the lives of the citizens of New Hampshire. These awards honor outstanding volunteers - or groups of volunteers - who reflect the strong ethic of service and volunteerism in our state.
  • Volunteer Program Champion Awards recognize outstanding volunteer programs that provide the infrastructure for volunteers to be successful in their service. Awards in the Volunteer Program Champion category recognize excellent program management, fund development efforts that sustain volunteer programs, and commitment of time/resources to engage employees in community volunteer roles.

In addition to honoring volunteers at the annual fall celebration, Volunteer NH also administers the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award, in collaboration with the Office of Governor John Lynch. This monthly award is presented at a scheduled meeting of the Governor and Executive Council and honors a youth, an adult, or a senior whose volunteer contributions improve life in New Hampshire.
