Professional Development Leadership Academy

The Professional Development Leadership Academy (PDLA) is a powerful school improvement intervention. It increases the capacity of teacher-administrator teams to align educator learning with student learning needs and to continually improve that process.

Rooted in the National Staff Development Council Standards for Staff Development, PDLA is an extended professional learning experience for teams that supports back-home application immediately.

It has evolved from a grassroots recognition in the year 2000 of the need to learn how to design and implement results-driven professional development. It now consists of a three-year curriculum that empowers teams to transform adult and student learning at their schools, in their districts and programs. Thirty-one teams comprised of 158 Arizona educators are participating in 2008-09.
