Community Conversations

Community Conversations is your opportunity to talk directly with Mayor Jerry Abramson, Metro Government department and agency directors and Metro Council members!

Mayor's Community Conversations
It's your opportunity to talk directly to Mayor Jerry Abramson. Have a comment, suggestion or concern...the mayor's there to listen to you!

Giving You a Voice
Mayor Abramson is joined by his department directors and members of the Metro Council to answer your questions - whether it's a neighborhood problem or communitywide concern or suggestion for making Louisville an even better place to live.

How Community Conversations Work
At 6:30 p.m., Mayor Abramson opens the program, introduces all of the Louisville Metro Department Directors and explains their areas of responsibility. Citizens then can speak directly with the Mayor or department director of their choice. This format allows for one-on-one conversations as opposed to a “town hall” format where everyone in the audience has to listen to the suggestions or concerns of others before they can voice their own. Louisville Metro employees wearing blue shirts are available to help guide residents to the proper department director to speak to.

Conveniently Scheduled
Community Conversations are held at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month (except January and December - see schedule above on right). Choose the location that’s nearest to you or do as Mayor Abramson has asked and join a Community Conversation in another part of town.

Can't Make it to Community Conversations?
Email your questions, suggestions, comments or concerns to MetroCall or email a Metro director by visiting the Mayor's staff page. You can connect online with Louisville Metro Government in many other ways – by visiting our website.

You can also connect with us anytime by calling MetroCall 311 or 574-5000.  MetroCall is the only number for Metro Government that you need to remember. Customer service representatives will listen to your concern and enter it into the computer system.

MetroCall Follow-up
MetroCall 311 Information Specialists attend each Mayor’s Community Conversations.  Since Mayor Abramson wants all concerns and questions to receive a timely response, all issues are quickly logged into the MetroCall system – where they can be tracked for performance.

Government 101
You may want to attend by yourself or with your family. Scout troops, neighborhood associations, church groups or school groups are always welcome. You do not have to have a complaint or concern to attend the Mayor’s Community Conversations. This is a great opportunity to see your local government in action and learn more about how your community operates. Many scout troops attend while they are working on badge projects and other groups come with a camera to capture their group in action for their newsletters.

Special Accommodations
If you require special accommodations to attend Community Conversations, please call MetroCall 311 or 574-5000.
