On Saturday January 19 at 2:15pm, BART reports that the Bayfair station remains closed due to police activity until further notice. Trains are running through Bay Fair without stopping. Bus bridge is setup between Hayward and San Leandro from AC Transit bus to supplement service.

BART customers should expect delays beginning this week through February 5th while traveling between Montgomery Street and West Oakland Stations due to their Earthquake Strengthening Project. Trains will be single tracking through the Transbay Tube during late night hours. Please click the More Info link for details.

Altamont Commuter Express announced that ACE 04 will temporarily operate 30 minutes behind its traditional schedule due to rail tie replacement along the right-of-way. The work will take place from January 24 through March 10, 2013. The temporary schedule for ACE 04 only, departs from San Jose at 4:05pm with regular stops at Santa Clara, Great America, Fremont, Pleasanton, Livermore, Vasco Road, Tracy, Lathrop/Manteca. The train arrives in Stockton at 6:17pm.

511 has rolled out a Beta version of its new Enhanced Trip Planner, with new features to allow Bay Area commuters and travelers to compare different types of trips and find their best alternatives.

The Enhanced Trip Planner highlights comparative trips from Point A to Point B at a glance for Driving, Public Transit, and Driving to Transit as a combined trip. Cost and travel time estimates are shown for these types of trips in an Overview, and additional alternatives are suggested for each of these trip types.

The Enhanced Trip Planner is available from the 511.org home page, and from the navigation tab "Enhanced Planner BETA" on various pages of 511.org. The 511 Transit Trip Planner and 511 Transit website section will continue to operate as usual, but now 511 customers have more ways to plan and compare their trips. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Now you can select "Lower Fares" as a preference option to filter and sort trip plans on 511 Transit.

The default preference is Fastest Trip, and Fewest Transfers and Less Walking are also available.

Lower Fares preference will search for trips that have the combined lowest fares (using "Leave at" times), for those who are looking to save money. These trips are not always the fastest or most direct, but are sorted by lower total fares per trip.

Not all possible combinations are reviewed for every trip (so as not to make the processing time too long), but the system will attempt to find more of the lower cost trips than when using the other preferences in the dropdown menu.
