Here's how to use Tax Services:
First, check out the frequently asked questions on our website, or you may select the instructions for the tax form you will be using. Many basic tax questions can be answered from these two resources. If you are e-filing and have questions regarding the software you are using, you must contact the software company.
Our computerized voice response system (IVR) has recorded information about many of your Oregon tax questions. The IVR can give you refund information, help you order forms, and provide other important information.
To access the IVR: call 503-378-4988 from Salem or outside Oregon, or toll-free from an Oregon prefix at 1-800-356-4222. If you still can't find what you need after listening to the options on the IVR, you may press zero to speak with a representative (also be sure to check our website). During tax season, which extends through April 15, you will experience wait times or busy signals due to high call volumes. You may also e-mail general questions. Because we don't exchange confidential information via e-mail, you must speak with a representative for specific details regarding your account.
Tax Services representatives are available year-round, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., except for Thursdays, when we are unavailable from 9-11 a.m.
From April 8–April 15, Monday through Friday, our extended hours are 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, April 11, representatives will be available from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. to assist you.
Remember:
- Keep copies of all of your tax information so you can refer to it if you have questions.
- Taxes owing are due by April 15 even if you have an extension.
- If you e-file, you must get the Oregon acknowledgment as well as the federal acknowledgment as verification that your return has been received.
- Tax Services representatives are available for questions and assistance throughout the year—not just tax season!
