You Can Plan a Healthy Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, a wide range of health issues may be important to you: medical care; family planning services; help with tobacco, alcohol or drug dependence; nutrition assistance; classes or just advice. To learn more, click on a topic at the left.

Be sure to talk to your regular healthcare provider about your plans, and make an appointment as soon as you think you are pregnant.

When your child is born, genetic and biochemical screening may identify conditions that could cause severe health problems if not treated early. For other services for your newborn child, select Newborn to 3 years.

The Division of Family Health Services also provides support for the nutrition needs of pregnant women and newborns through the WIC program.

Some agencies that monitor the health of mothers and newborns and administer related public health programs are listed under Professionals, Policy, Research.
