HERO OF THE WEEK

Carlos Gonzalez
VINCENT M. PERRERA

10/19/09 - 10/23/09

The former Information Management Office nominates Vincent (Vinnie) Perrera as the New York District Corps of Engineers Hero of the Week.  Vinnie is the District's Visual Information artist ever engaged in a wide array of graphics projects in support of the Corps.  He designed and created scores of products promoting District initiatives including, for example, resources for the FEST mission, recruiting activities, public affairs materials, Town Halls and public meetings, award ceremonies, office and hallway displays, Engineer Day, Corps social events, etc.  His humorous graphic posters to prepare employees for, and ease the transition to ACE-IT received national attention and praise and were published in the Corporate Information Newsletter and posted on the ACE-IT WEB site for use by other Districts.  His work for the Corps has received recognition, both inside and outside the Army, and extends from praise for helping design the New York District coin to being featured in a DAPS magazine article for his creative design of publications.  But what is most memorable is his highly imaginative, clever, and humorous pamphlets and posters fostering congeniality and good will during the holiday season and for special events.  For these contributions, Vinnie Perrera is a true New York District hero.

New York District's Web page is undergoing a redesign and here is a look at the front page as it is now under construction. The page is being modeled after Corps Headquarters' recently redesigned page, and will have a similar look and feel. New York District is the "pilot" page for following HQ's design and the plan is for the other District's and Corps offices to follow suit. Click here for more information...
