Funding Available to Expand Health Professions Training
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the availability of nearly $200 million to support grants, loans, and scholarships to expand the training of health care professionals. The funds are expected to train 8,000 students and credentialed health professionals by the end of Fiscal Year 2010.
The above funding levels for Improving and Preserving Health Care and for Health IT are estimates as of May 1, 2009. These estimates are being further refined and the chart will be updated when new estimates are available.
Most of Recovery Act funding will go to States, Territories, and Tribes, who will in turn distribute funds through grants, contracts, subsidies, loan programs, etc. Be sure to check your State Web site for information. Additionally, check the list of State Recovery sites for a link to your state.
