South Slough Celebrates with the Opening of a New Trail and Footbridge

Dr. Jane Lubchenco addressed the open house at South Slough Reserve on July 11, 2009 and offered her congratulations to the Reserve. The event was a celebration of the South Slough Reserve's 35th year of existence as the nation's first estuarine research reserve as well as a celebration of Oregon's 150th year of statehood.

The event also served as the official opening and dedication of the new North Creek Trail and a new footbridge spanning the tidewaters of the South Slough.

Come visit the information booth of the South Slough Reserve and Cape Arago Audubon Society on select Wednesdays during the summer (see calendar). Guest interpreters will be on hand to deliver themed messages and to answer questions.
