The Apprenticeship & Training Division Welcomes You!
Apprentices in Action Are You Prepared for the Challenge?
You are ready for a change. A new or first career opportunity. Something that offers a competitive pay package. Good health benefits. A solid retirement plan. Being part of a highly skilled and respected workforce. Apprenticeship is the first step toward preparing yourself for a lifetime career. It requires commitment and dedication. You should choose your trade carefully. Will it be the right fit for you? Would you enjoy doing it?

Keep in mind you are looking for work in a very competitive field. If you get discouraged along the way, or if someone tells you "no," then maybe you're talking to the wrong person. Be persistent. Your enthusiasm works for you, not against you. Call apprenticeship programs directly, even if they're full or not accepting applications at this time. See if they offer any orientations. Ask for an informational interview or see if you can visit a work site or shop.
Attention Veterans:
Veteran apprentices may be eligible for education benefits . . .
Military
Many of our current apprenticeship programs already have Veteran's Administration approval to train veterans: Oregon Apprenticeship Opportunities Statewide.

If an existing apprenticeship program does not have an approved veteran's program in place, please contact the committee for assistance. NOTE: In many cases Veterans can coordinate the establishment of a new training program by communicating with an employer and the Apprenticeship and Training Division. The employer can be a current employer or a prospective employer who is willing to coordinate apprentice training with the Veteran's Administration and the Apprenticeship and Training Division. Please contact us to speak with an apprenticeship representative who can assist you in determining eligibility for your apprenticeship/training goals.
Partners in Apprenticeship
Many apprenticeship partners are responsible for apprenticeship successes!
OTI Electrical Apprentice
The partners who make Oregon Apprenticeship successful are numerous. From our Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council and Commissioner Brad Avakian, to our apprentices, committees, training agents, community colleges, high schools, professional organizations and staff (to name only a few.) We look forward to highlighting our partners, so please check back to enjoy featured Partners in Apprenticeship.
