The Past Projects database is a legacy database of USAID projects. Unlike the DEXS, the Projects database is not a database of documents, but of project descriptions. Each record contains a substantive abstract of the project's scope; clicking on a record's project number in the results display will return a list of documents in the DEXS for that project. USAID phased out the use of projects as a way of organizing their activities in the 1990s. Projects were replaced with the current system of strategic objectives; see the R4 and Annual Report databases at partners.usaid.gov for information on USAID activities after 1996.
