Austin Financial Center (AFC) was established in 1969 as a Regional Financial Center (RFC) for the Financial Management Service (FMS), a bureau of the Department of the Treasury. AFC provides payment services for approximately eighty federal program agencies and is responsible for all Federal agencies within our established geographical region, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. In Fiscal Year 2008, AFC issued over 170 million payments, totaling $421 billion on behalf of Federal agencies to recipients.
