Connecting Historically Underutilized Business and Small Businesses to Recovery Opportunities


The N. C. Office of Economic Recovery and Investment will undertake an awareness campaign targeted to historically underutilized businesses (HUBs), including minority and small businesses. The four-month campaign will reach out to these groups through workshops and the use of a variety of communication vehicles to impart information and offer help with navigation of the various funding opportunities available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Through Executive Order 13, “Support for Historically Underutilized Businesses,” Governor Bev Perdue addresses the importance of providing opportunities to small and historically underutilized businesses when awarding state contracts and procuring goods and services in a variety of areas, including transportation and construction.

Economic Recovery Workshops for Small & Historically Underutilized Businesses

The NC Office of Economic Recovery & Investment (OERI) will host a series of statewide workshops focused on linking small and historically underutilized businesses to the recovery effort in North Carolina.

Beginning July 15th in Williamston, this series of 3-hour workshops will move to cities across the state including Salisbury and Wilmington in July, Greensboro, Goldsboro and Charlotte in August, and Raleigh, Hickory and Rocky Mount in September. These workshops will not only update you on recovery efforts but will also provide helpful information on how you can connect to local economic recovery

You will meet local service providers and get your questions answered about the economic recovery through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
