The September 2008 Risk Management Techniques and Practice (RMTAP) workshop, held at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco on September 17–18, 2008, was the second in a series of workshops addressing "Realities of High Performance Computing." It focused on the risk management aspects of acquisition of a leading-edge computing system by bringing together managerial and technical project staff from major U.S. computing facilities. Additional workshops in the series include:
