Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my state involved?
Ten states are participating in the RWDC’s inaugural year: Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.

2. What if my state is not involved? How can my state become involved in the future?
Participation in the Challenge will be expanded in the future. In order for a state to participate, the Governor must make a formal commitment to supporting the RWDC.

3. I am not using Pro/ENGINEER software, can I still participate?
Teams may use any engineering software that they choose. Coaches should possess some expertise in the use of that software so that they may provide support to the team.

4. Where do I find out information on teacher training?
Teachers and Coaches should visit their individual state pages listed on the RWDC Website under “Participating States”

5. Why can’t I see the Challenge?
The Challenge is only available to teams that create a user name and password. A coach must log in to the Secure Coach’s Site to access the Challenge. The 2009 Challenge will be released to the general public after the February 2, 2009 submission deadline has passed.

6. What does the November 15th deadline mean?
After November 15th, no additional teams may be registered for the competition. In addition, no new team members can be added after that date.

7.

What is Windchill? When do I have access to Windchill?

Windchill is an on-line collaborative, software package that will help teams manage their data and communications. Teams that register for the Challenge by October 17th will gain access to Windchill in late October, shortly after a webinar is scheduled to provide Coaches with training in its use. Teams that register for the Challenge after October 17th should gain access to Windchill within approximately one week of completing the registration process.
