TWO NTSB FINAL MARINE ACCIDENT REPORTS AVAILABLE ON THE WEB


The National Transportation Safety Board has published two final marine accident reports on its website. They are:

  1. On November 7, 2007, the containership Cosco Busan struck the fendering system at the base of a support tower of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The resulting release of bunker oil caused considerable environmental damage. The Board adopted the final report on February 18, which is described in Press Release SB-09-06.   2. On November 3, 2007, the Bahamas-registered tankship Axel Spirit struck the Ambrose Light at the entrance of the New York Harbor. The light tower was damaged beyond repair. The final report may be accessed at the following link:http://www.ntsb.gov/publictn/2009/MAR0902.pdf
